Remote triathlon coaching for Melbourne athletes with real lives.
Leighton Wells, PhD, coaches Melbourne age-groupers remotely — structured, research-led, and genuinely personal. Built for busy professionals who want to train seriously without pretending work, family, and recovery disappear when a block begins.
Distance isn't the variable that matters. Communication is.
Good remote coaching isn't a lesser version of in-person — done well, it's just as effective, because the plan is always with you and always current. Your training lives in TrainingPeaks and adapts as the week moves. Bayside dawn rides on Beach Road, Yarra trail runs, lunch-break swims, the Zwift session when Melbourne weather or a late meeting wins — it all gets planned for honestly.
You're coached by Leighton directly, with regular conversation, so the plan keeps pace with your week. And because Geelong is barely an hour away, the occasional in-person session or testing block is there if you want it — just never something the coaching depends on.
Training that survives a heavy work week.
Planned around your load
Work travel, deadlines, and broken sleep are inputs to the plan, not excuses the plan ignores.
Every session earns its place
When time is short, intensity and purpose are chosen deliberately — every session is there for a reason.
The week flexes with you
Tell Leighton it blew up; the plan adapts. That conversation is the coaching, not an interruption to it.
The practical stuff.
How does remote coaching work from Melbourne?
Your plan lives in TrainingPeaks and updates as your week unfolds. You and Leighton stay in contact through your preferred channel, with regular check-ins and scheduled calls. Geelong is about an hour away, so occasional in-person sessions are possible — but nothing depends on them.
Is this suitable for busy professionals?
It's built for them. Load is planned around work stress, travel, family, and recovery — not in spite of them. Indoor and early-morning sessions are programmed realistically so the plan survives a heavy work week.
Do we need to meet in person?
No. Coaching is fully effective remotely. In-person is an option for Melbourne and Geelong athletes when useful, not a requirement.
